Alberto Coralli is Senior Consultant at DNV, Business Lead for Latin America in the Hydrogen team SEMELA (Southern Europe, Middle East Latin America and Africa). He works with hydrogen energy and fuel cell technologies since 2008, with particular emphasis on component characterization, system integration and prototype testing. He participated in several applied research and demonstration projects in public and private institutions regarding hydrogen production, storage and use, both for stationary and automotive applications. In this period, Alberto gained relevant theoretical and hands-on knowledge on hydrogen gas systems, fuel cells (PEM and SOFCs), electrolysers, hydrocarbon reformers, battery systems, power electronics, and related auxiliary equipment. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Energy Engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy, and a Ph.D in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering obtained at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, with a thesis focused on an ethanol-fueled solid oxide fuel cell system for stationary cogeneration. At DNV, Alberto mainly takes part as expert and/or project manager to (pre-)feasibility studies and technical due diligences of projects for the production of hydrogen and its derivatives from renewable sources. He also has a special focus on creation, modification and review of Excel-based tools for techno-economic modelling and optimisation of such projects.
