Intersolar South America Conference highlights latest market, policy and technology trends in one of the world’s most dynamic PV markets.

Press Release – Friday, September 03, 2021

September 3, 2021: As one of the first on-site events at the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo in 2021, the Intersolar South America Conference has set itself the goal of addressing the most important and future-oriented topics for the PV and renewable energy industry in Brazil in a safe and lively environment. PV, energy storage and energy management experts will come together over three days to discuss the issues that will shape the energy sector of Brazil.

According to the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR), since 2012 the solar PV has already brought to Brazil more than R$ 52.7 billion in new investments and generated more than 300 thousand jobs accumulated. With this, it avoided the emission of 10.7 million tons of CO2 in generation of electricity.

Intersolar South America, Latin America’s largest exhibition and conference for the solar industry, brings together the complete value chain of PV and ST from PV Cells and Modules manufactures, BOS, components, tracking, applications, distributors. Global brands and local companies present their latest technologies and show possibilities to earn money, to save money, and to be up-to-date on solar developments.

Expectations for the event are extremely high, as Brazil has just surpassed the historic milestone of 10 gigawatts (GW) of operating power for solar PV operating capacity, including large plants and small and medium systems installed on roofs, facades and land. In addition to the exhibition, Intersolar South America together with ABSOLAR will hold the largest conference of the sector in South America.

“We are looking forward to being back in one of the most dynamic solar PV markets in the world. Together with our institutional partner ABSOLAR we will provide an outstanding conference that contains best in class speakers covering the latest trends and innovations throughout the industry sector”, Florian Wessendorf, Managing Director of Solar Promotional International adds.

The conference will include the participation of government authorities, sector entities, companies, financial institutions, academics and professionals from the sector. Among the highlighted themes are: the legal framework for distributed generation in Brazil, trends in centralized and distributed generation markets, the role of the solar source in the Brazilian electricity matrix, assessment of current field experiences, how to promote and increase solar PV installations, innovation and business models, emerging applications like floating PV and agrophotovoltaic, technical standards and market and technology up-dates on energy storage solutions.

For Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of ABSOLAR, who also chairs the Intersolar South America Congress Committee, this edition of the conference will be a great opportunity to meet decision makers at a strategic moment for the Brazilian electricity sector. “The participation of renewable sources in the national electricity matrix will be essential as part of the solution to the water crisis faced by Brazil. Solar PV is growing exponentially in South America, with a very favorable environment for new businesses, boosting investments, jobs and the sustainable economic recovery of the region”, highlights Sauaia.

Special highlight: The potential of energy storage
The growth of solar PV is creating more and more opportunities for companies focused on energy storage. The energy storage conference sessions on Wednesday, October 20th are dedicated to exploring the potential of energy storage – both currently relevant and trend-setting – with international and national best practices, a view on battery technology trends, and with a regulatory and policy roundtable for energy storage in Brazil.

About ABSOLAR: Biggest entity representig the solar PV sector in Brazil
Founded in 2013, the Brazilian Solar Photovoltaic Energy Association (ABSOLAR) is a private, non-for-profit, trade association, which gathers companies from the entire value chain of the solar photovoltaic (PV) sector with operations in Brazil. The entity coordinates, represents and defends the interests of its associate members regarding the development of the market and the sector, promoting and disseminating solar PV energy in the country.

About Intersolar South America – South America's Largest Exhibition and Conference for the Solar Industry
Intersolar South America, South America’s largest exhibition and conference for the solar industry, takes place at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil on October 18–20, 2021, and has a focus on the areas of photovoltaics, PV production and solar thermal technologies.
