Summary

In this session, research and market experts will report on programs that support achieving a 100% renewable energy supply at regional, national, and multinational levels in South America. The talks will focus on the role of renewable energy, and in particular solar energy, in meeting the needs of the power sector, which is showing significant growth in South America, but will also address issues such as sector coupling and energy efficiency measures to see how all end use energy requirements can be met by renewables. The panelists will talk about ongoing research programs as well as key market conditions that will support 100% renewable energy targets. Several of the panelists represent the Global Solar Council, which is becoming very active in South America in promoting solar energy markets.
