Large Consumers, Data Centers, and Telecom: How Energy Storage is Used in Energy-Intensive Sectors

Vinicius Berná is the Executive Director of Commercial and New Business at UCB Power.With 13 years of experience in corporate strategy, business development, and innovation, he has been working in the energy sector since 2019. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at CELA - Clean Energy Latin America, Auren Energia, UCB Power (formerly UNICOBA), and PowerHaus Energy Services. Prior to that, he gained experience in investment banking (Bank of America Merrill Lynch), strategic consulting, and corporate finance.In the power sector, he has extensive experience in energy storage, renewable generation, energy trading in Brazil's Free Energy Market (ACL), strategic planning, project implementation, and the development of new business opportunities. His work has contributed to initiatives that promote the modernization and decarbonization of Brazil's energy matrix.In addition to his executive role, he actively contributes to the development of the energy sector as a Board Member of ABSAE (Brazilian Energy Storage Solutions Association) and Coordinator of the Energy Transition Working Group at CIEAM (Industry Center of the State of Amazonas).He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from FGV-EAESP and a Master Level Degree in Strategy and Innovation from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.

Fabio Kenji Taniguchi is an Electrical Engineer holding a Master's from UNICAMP, with MBAs in Project Management (USP) and Solutions Architecture (PUC Minas). With over a decade of experience in R&D&I for the power sector, he is currently a Senior R&D Researcher at CPqD, leading complex projects in emerging technologies such as Smart Grids, Renewable Energy, and Electromobility. Previously, he excelled in Global Strategy and Innovation at EDP, mapping high-potential opportunities, bridging global innovation ecosystems, and acting as a Mission Lead for international initiatives. His career effectively combines deep technical expertise, business development, and leadership in the energy transition.  

Paulo Sehn holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, along with postgraduate studies in Law, Political Science, and Liberalism. He has nearly ten years of experience in the Brazilian electricity sector, specializing in regulation, market design, and energy policy. He currently serves as Energy Director at the Brazilian Association of Energy Self-Producers (ABIAPE), where he actively participates in regulatory and legislative discussions concerning the electricity market, representing the interests of self-producers before the sector's main institutions. His areas of expertise include electricity market regulation, infrastructure expansion, security of electricity supply, the energy transition, energy storage, and the improvement of Brazil's regulatory framework for the power sector.

Electrical engineer graduated from the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC, with a Master's and Doctorate from the Postgraduate Program in Energy at the Federal University of ABC - UFABC and a Post-Doctorate from the Postgraduate Program in Electrical Engineering at UFABC. He currently works as a Technical-Regulatory Specialist at the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association - ABSOLAR.

Victor Hugo iOcca, 39, is the Director of Electric Power at ABRACE (Association of Large Energy Consumers). He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Brasília (UnB) and an Executive MBA with a specialization in strategy from Coppead/UFRJ.
