Career Opportunities in Renewable Energies – A Stepping Stone for Women?

Free Webinar

Thursday, March 11, 2021 | Webinar Language: English

According to the Global Renewables Outlook: Energy transformation 2050 published by Irena in 2020, Jobs in renewables would reach 42 million globally by 2050, four times their current level, through the increased focus of investments on renewables. Energy efficiency measures would create 21 million and system flexibility 15 million additional jobs.

In this webinar we would like to shed a light on the possibilities that these developments offer to women in the industry. We will discuss the chances but also the challenges with Tina Barroso, a founding member of Hypatia, a network for women in the energy sector, and Kathlen Schneider a co-founder of the Brazilian Women’s Network in Solar Energy (MESol Network). They will be available for your questions during a Q&A, too.

Both the recording and the presentation are made available to all registrants after the webinar.

Our Guest

Tina Barroso, Hypatia Network for Women in the Energy Sector

Tina Barroso has been working in the energy industry since 2001, heading Conexio’s Berlin office since 2018. Interacting closely with attendees and partners, she develops conference programs, coordinates major events such as the Forum New Energy World, and combines effortless networking with an intensive exchange of knowledge and expertise.

During her conference moderations, attendees become contributors, which leads to exciting results of the events. Her conference programs aim to have balanced panels with male and female speakers. Kathlen Schneider, Mesol Network

Kathlen Schneider is researcher in solar photovoltaics and energy efficiency topics. She has experience in sizing and simulating PV systems integrated to buildings performance, energy efficiency in buildings simulation, distributed generation regulation context with a focus on community solar. She has Bachelor and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC).

She is currently researcher from the Solar Energy Research Lab (Fotovoltaica-UFSC) and director from IDEAL Institute. She was a mentee from GWNET’s 2019 Mentorship Program and is one of the co-founders and coordinators of the Brazilian Women’s Network in Solar Energy (MESol Network).

Opportunities through Agri-PV in Brazil

June 29, 2022

Agrophotovoltaics (Agri-PV) refers to a process for the simultaneous use of land for agricultural (Agri) purpose and photovoltaics (PV) energy production. It is a symbiosis process that increases the efficiency of soil use, as it maintains fertile land for agriculture and, at the same time, allows the expansion of photovoltaic energy generation.
