Sao Paulo, August 29, 2018: Packed halls and high spirits among exhibitors and visitors: Intersolar South America - LATAM’s Largest Exhibition and Conference for the Solar Industry – opened its doors yesterday to more than 12.500 visitors. In the lime light, Brazils and LATAM’s dynamic solar deployments and the dramatic change the energy industry is currently experiencing.
According to the Monthly Bulletin on the Monitoring of the Electric System from the Brazilian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), Brazil had 1,601 MW of grid-connected solar power at the end of June 2018. This capacity is represented by 1,307 MW of large-scale PV projects selected in auctions held by the Brazilian government and 296 MW of distributed generation solar power generators (up to 5 MW). For 2018 the MEM expects total newly installed PV capacity to reach 490.2 MW, while for 2019, a volume of 495.1 MW is predicted. MEM usually provides conservative forecasts. Therefore industry insider forecast much more, especially due to the strong potential of distributed generation. For LATAM market analysts expect 40 GW of solar to be developed by the end of 2022.
At the same time, the energy industry is undergoing a radical transformation. Currently large-scale, centralized nuclear and fossil fuel power stations are dominating the energy system. Thanks to continuous innovations in renewables, storage and distribution the energy supply is changing dramatically. In near future, the energy supply will be secured by millions of decentralized renewable energy plants in combination with intelligent storage, distribution and energy management solutions.
Following those market trends the organizers of Intersolar South America will bring together three exhibitions dedicated to renewable and intelligent energy solutions under the umbrella of The smarter E from 2019 on. The smarter E South America will be LATAM’s innovation hub for the new energy world. It takes a comprehensive approach to the topics of the energy transition by presenting cross-sector energy solutions and technologies. Focusing on the generation, storage, distribution and use of energy and the ways in which these aspects interact and can be intelligently combined, The smarter E South America brings together international stakeholders in the energy future from across the world’s most influential markets.
The smarter E South America will take place at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil, on August 27-29, 2019, bringing together the following events:
- Intersolar South America – The Largest Exhibition and Conference for the South American Solar Industry
- ees South America – LATAM’s major platform for electrical energy storage technologies
- Eletrotec+EM-Power – The Premier Exhibition for Electrical Infrastructure and Energy Management
In addition to sector coupling and decentralization, digitalization is a central element of the new energy world. The growing demand for integrated and intelligently connected solutions means that companies are increasingly relying on these types of systems and services. The smarter E South America responds to this development, presenting solutions and technologies for an intelligent, sustainable and cost-effective energy supply
Solar meets E-mobility
ees South America 2019 will be complemented by the special exhibition Power2Drive South America. The special exhibition highlights the need for electric mobility solutions in order to shape a sustainable new energy world. The special exhibition focuses on mobile energy storage solutions, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure technologies.
